(Swedish below) My name is Maja Lindström Kling. I’m an independent filmmaker, born in Stockholm. (I studied painting, crafts and grafic design in Sweden and Italy: L’Accademia di Belle Arti, Nyckelvikskolan, Beckmans Designhögskola, L’UIA ). I now live with my youngest child (the older is at a farming boading school) in the countryside in Baskemölla, south of Sweden.

I came in contact with the concept of Peak Oil in 2007 and made the awarded animated film 00-Baby Boom Child on the subject in 2014. (I worked as a director of animated films 2003-2014). After this film I decided I wanted to take the step over to interview based films. By then, engaging in a local Transition project in Stockholm, I learned some about permaculture and came in contact with the concept of Agroforestry and its extreme benefits for improving the resilience in food systems thanks to a range of ecosystem services. Since 2018 I work with interview based films to learn more… And hopefully others, like you, will learn with me, watching my films. Since 2021 I’m also a board member of Agroforestry Sweden.

I only invest my time making films about people I feel great respect for, people I think have ideas that are central for what we need to acknowledge and adopt into our lives and communities as part of the big paradigm shift, where we learn how to live within our planetary boundaries.

I love to learn by filming people doing inspiering stuff and I love to edit what people trust me with and what situations brings me. I’m not so good at, or concerned about reaching a broader audience. When I was in the film business, that was the work of producers and distributers. Now I work alone and can’t afford that. Who finds my films does, and a lot of people don’t. That’s OK with me. You were curious enough to search info here, that makes my effords worthwhile! /Best wishes, Maja

Jag heter Maja Lindström Kling och är en frilansande oberoende filmare. Jag är född 1972 och uppväxt i Stockholm, har studerat måleri vid L’Accademia di Belle Arti, Venedig, olika hantverk vid Nyckelvikskolan grafisk form & reklam vid Beckmans Designhögskola och museologi & scenografi vid L’UIA, Venedig. Nu bor jag i Baskemölla, Österlen, Skåne.

2015 hörde jag för första gången talas om agroforestry och sedan 2017 arbetar jag intervjubaserat för att lära mig mer i ämnet. Sedan 2021 är jag styrelseledarmot i Agroforestry Sverige. Jag söker bara upp personeratt intervjua som jag har stor respekt för och vars arbete jag tror är av betydelse för paradigmshiftet, när vi lär oss leva inom planetgränserna.

2003-2014 arbetade jag med manus och regi för animerad film, se hemsidans filmbibliotek. Ett arbete som å ena sidan belönades med många filmpris och utmärkelser, däribland en Guldbagge och Stora Novellfilmspriset. Å andra sidan blev det faktiska priset av dessa år att min livspartner och arbetskollega blev utbränd och svårt sjuk. Under dessa år förändrades (kommersialiserades) den svenska filmbranchen radikalt, och jag kände allt mer att jag inte ville vara en del av de förutsättningar och det narrativ som svenska filmare måste anpassa sig till, för att hålla sig kvar. Sedan 2014 säljer jag inte in mina filmer, varken till TV eller filmfestivaler. (Dyker de ändå upp på en festival/visning så beror det på att någon annan har tagit initiativ till det). Det kostar mig onödig tid och pengar som jag inte har. Istället läggs de upp på Youtube eller/och andra ställen.
